Strong winds surge through rush hour traffic

Motorists, today, were taken by surprise when swift and strong gusts of winds billowed all of a sudden. The morning rush hour traffic was caught off-guard across various parts of the city. Two-wheelers had to brave swirling dust storms which threatened to tip any unwary rider. The clouds had blotted out the sun moments before the storm took place. Sporadic showers were in evidence in certain regions. What is surely to irk many, piles of filth and rubbish flew from open vats and over-filled corporation garbage-collection carts, and splattered those who either could not twist and turn out of the way, or were luckless enough to be caught in the vortex of small dust devils. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in Alipore, had predicted sporadic rains or thunderstorms at isolated places in and around the Gangetic parts of West Bengal. In its report, dated April 3, 2013, issued from the Regional Meteorological Centre, Alipore it has said little change is expected in weather conditions over the next 24 hours. Later, scattered clouds were observed with light rains taking over following wind speeds of 18 Km./Hr. from the South.
